Set Preferences for PDFgear
After installing PDFgear, you can use the Preference Settings to adjust language, appearance, zoom, and other options.
In the top menu bar, click PDFgear > Settings (or press Command + ,). From here, you can adjust how PDFgear works.

Language
Pick your display language: Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, or Simplified Chinese.
Appearance
Choose Light mode for a bright look, or Dark mode for a darker style that’s easier on the eyes at night.
Default Zoom
Set how PDFs open by default. You can choose:
- Actual Size shows the true scale.
- Fit Page shows the whole page.
- Fit Height matches the page height to the window.
- Fit Width matches the page width to the window.
General Options
You can also personalize how PDFgear runs on your Mac:

Customize the Settings in PDFgear
- Start PDFgear at login: Automatically launches PDFgear when you log in to your Mac.
- Show in menu bar: Adds the PDFgear icon to the Mac menu bar for quick access.
- Enable Received PDFs Reminder: Notifies you about newly received PDFs.
- Open PDFs from last session when PDFgear launches: Restores all documents you had open previously.
- Choose print content before printing: This feature lets you select pages or sections before printing.
- Enable PDFgear Copilot: Turn on the built-in AI assistant for tasks such as summarizing, extracting, and translating text in PDFs.
- Auto-align annotations while dragging: Keeps annotations neatly aligned as you move them around.
