Search Text in PDF

PDFgear for Mac lets you quickly find words or phrases in your PDF. It even works on scanned PDFs with the built-in OCR tool.

Click the Search icon (magnifying glass) in the top-right corner of the toolbar. A search panel will appear.

Search in a Regular PDF

  • Type the word or phrase into the search field. Results show up in a list with page numbers and short snippets.

  • Click any result to jump right to that spot in the PDF. All matches are highlighted so you can see them easily.

Search in a Scanned PDF

  • Open the scanned PDF in PDFgear.
  • Go to the Home tab and click OCR.
  • Choose OCR to Searchable PDF.
  • Pick a folder and rename the file if needed.
  • Click Save. The new searchable PDF opens automatically.
  • Now type your keyword in the search field to find text.
