View and Edit PDF Properties

PDFgear lets you check detailed information about a PDF file, edit document metadata, and view its security permissions.

Right-click anywhere on the PDF page and choose Document Properties from the menu.

The Document Properties window has two tabs: Description and Security.

Description Tab: View and Edit Document Info

The Description tab shows general details about the PDF:

  • Number of pages
  • Page size
  • Title, Author, Subject, Keywords (you can edit these)
  • Application and PDF Producer (which app created it)
  • File information

To edit metadata: Type directly into the fields for Title, Author, Subject, or Keywords. Then click Done to save.

Security Tab: Check PDF Permissions

The Security tab shows what actions are allowed or blocked. It lists:

  • Security method
  • Printing
  • Editing the document
  • Copying content
  • Adding comments
  • Filling forms
  • Extracting pages
  • Managing pages and bookmarks

If something is marked Not Allowed, you’ll need the password or the owner’s permission to change it.
